Painting Found in Trash Could Fetch $1M
Original article by ULA ILNYTZKY.

My Quick Summary: A painting which was stolen in the 80s pops up 20yrs later. Stolen in 1987... and found by an unsuspecting person on her morning walk almost 20yrs later (she's had it for 4yrs). The painting titled, "Tres Personajes" is said to fetch somewhere near one million dollars. The abstract painting by Mexican artist Rufino Tamayo was painted in the 1970s. The original owner will have the painting auctioned off by Sotheby's. The lady who found the painting will receive an award and percentage of the sale.

What I wouldn't do to be in Milan for the Old Masters Paintings: Auction... and actually be able to afford a painting or two... or three... one can always dream!

Of Interest: I would like to travel to Prague... Prague is home to beautiful glassware and amazing scenery. Two places I'd love to see in Prague....
The Dancing House by famed architects *Frank Gehry and Vlado Milunič ... I struggled to find a picture of The Dancing House at night because I fell in love with a photograph taken at night of the architecture (seen on p. 162 in Elle Decor's November 2007 issue No141). This other photo I found will do for now: http://www.bicycle-tours.cz/pics/tours/central-bohemia/Prague-Dancing-house.jpg Here is another link... http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=651

If that gorgeous architecture doesn't convince you... Prague is the home of the Mucha Museum. Learn more about Alfons Mucha.
Or more about him here.

and... with that I'm sold... one ticket for Prague please!!!

*Frank Gehry has many awe inspiring buildings around the world. I discovered this amazing architect through a friend
Linditalinders who pointed out his architecture during one of our Los Angeles trips. (Walt Disney Concert Hall) Thanks Linditalinders!

Hey mija, i see you mentioned me in your blog. that's great!

about the tamayo painting... why does the lady only get a percentage? i would have just kept my mouth shut and sold it.

about prague... still haven't made it there but have heard it's beautiful. not too long ago it was one of the cheapest european cities to go to... not anymore. prices have skyrocketed and with our dollar being worth squat, it's even more expensive.

lindita,
i dont think selling the painting would work since there is a record of it's disappearance in the "art loss register" ...although i really don't know if that means anything or not???

i was under the impression prague was still affordable ...to bad i was ready to fly there this weekend ;) heh heh
